The RoadRunner costs 100 quid more than Moto-roma’s Go-Go model and for that you get a helmet bay - but lose the topbox. 13in tyres help it ride over the potholes. Styling as we always say, is an individual thing, but Moto-roma do include heated handlebar grips and 12 months breakdown recovery to tempt you into their showrooms.

A new worthy offering from Daelim, similar to the S-five but in an off-road stylee. Scooter comes with handlebar guards, sporty spoiler/luggage rack and a detachable speedometer. Disc brake on the front is standard also. Any off-roading carried out is assisted by a wider front tyre, with both being higher profile than the S-five.

The least expensive version in the Atlantis range but without sports stickers or coloured wheels. For your money you still get the front disc and liquid cooled motor, which should perform well if derestricted. If youíre looking for a nippy city scoot with some heritage then this is worth a look.

The strangely named Yup 50 arrives on these shores courtesy of Kymco, Taiwan. It features the basics, as you’d expect for a scoot for this price, with a luggage hook, underseat helmet bay and a rear carrier. Small but sweet. Comes with subsidised insurance.

It’s pretty basic and uninspiring and features a top box (no underseat storage) and heated handle bar grips as standard. one year warranty and breakdown recovery included, although certain European scooters may seem more appealing and stylish for not a lot more cash. New from Fosti in China comes this, another cheap four-stroke scooter. The FT50QT2 is a basic looking bike, with drum brakes at either end. There’s nothing visually to excite you about this scoot, although fuel consumption should prove miserly. This scoot comes with a 12 months or 6000km warranty.
