The 125cc version of Piaggio’s flagship X9 super-scooter hides a four-stroke Leader engine beneath its body. Handling is sure-footed and the triple-disc braking system is linked so that both front and rear brakes can be partially operated from one lever. Gadgets abound. With a competitive on the road price, this could be a wise choice for small capacity cruising.

A new brand to the UK with scooters that originate in China. ZY’s moped boasts a little more styling, a disc brake, storage tray, and alloy hubs. Again the price tag will be a redeeming feature to some as doubtless that is what will appeal initially. Also comes with 12 month warranty and roadside recovery service.

The City is one of the cheapest new scoots you can buy (officially) in the UK that includes a full helmet bay. It features Honda-style trailing link forks (and handles well as a result), but is a physically small machine, so tall riders may find it cramped. The ultra small front disc brake is a bit weedy, but the quality seems good and you can’t moan about the price.

Based on the Trend, but given the Swatch Watch treatment, the Techno features translucent panels, coloured wheel inserts, and colour coded trim on the saddle.
As the Trend it also has electric start, along with a disc brake at the sharp end. Under seat storage and seat hook are standard Bigger tyres than the One should make for a smoother ride complete with 2 year warranty.
