MBK’s feet-forward luxury 125 shares everything but its name with Yamaha’s Majesty 125. Despite the scooter’s length, weight, and seat height, it is still very manoeuvrable. Dual piston Brembo callipers head a list of quality European components used, and rear disc brake adds to the stopping power. Well worth a test ride. (Tested as Yamaha Majesty T&G 2) & T&G 6.

The first thought that comes to mind when you see the new Piaggio MP3 is why? Until you’ve ridden one you’ll never truly understand; in a word it is sensational. The idea of bikes with three wheels isn’t a new one, but to have two wheels at the front acting on independent parallelogram suspension systems and actually being able to lean the scooter over to an angle of 40 degrees is just crazy!

MANUFACTURERS DESCRIPTION: Fitted as standard on the Executive version, the sophisticated ABS-PBS braking system, combining Integrated braking + Power-assistance + ABS, outclasses every other competing scooter on the market by offering total rider safety and an astounding reduction in braking distances. This makes major impact in difficult conditions: poor road traction, changes in road surface, and situations many riders generally cannot handle.
The Executive version is also fitted with an Abus security chain which is anchored to the chassis of the bike within the storage compartment, and can be used to secure the bike to a railing or lamppost.

If you were cruel you could say that this is Kymco’s first really nice looking scooter. Uses Kymco’s liquid-cooled four-stroke, but has to pull 128kg so performance is relaxed rather than sporty. A large, comfortable machine with good spec and fine handling. Down-sides: tight helmet bay and mediocre price. Upside: 0%, 2 year finance package.

The smart-looking SYM Shark brings the Taiwanese manufacturer 125 offerings up to date in technology terms. The four-stroke engine boasts reasonable performance. The flashy rim-mounted disc brake works fine, as well as looking trick. A rear disc brake (Shark 125R) has been added. With a flat floor and fair sized helmet bay the Shark is practical enough. Tested T&G 4.
